Domestic Violence Resource Center's Temporary Protection Order Unit
The Domestic Violence Resource Center can help victims file for a Temporary Protection Order (TPO) in Reno, Sparks, and Washoe County. Our TPO Advocates are experts in the process and will help you the entire way – from filing to navigating the court process, we’ll be there with you. Our Temporary Protection Order Advocacy team is bilingual, and we can help English and Spanish speaking victims through the TPO process.

The Domestic Violence Resource Center TPO Unit:
- Conducts the initial screening
- Assists with filling out the TPO application and other forms
- Assists with E-filing of the application and other forms
- Accompanies the applicant to court hearings
- Helps navigate the legal system, but does not provide legal advice
- Offers telephone reminders for upcoming hearings
- Offers court preparation packets
- Offers safety planning
- Offers community resource and referrals to other needed services
- Offers bilingual advocacy
