Welcoming 2025: Hope & Healing
As we move forward into 2025, I am inspired by the strength and resilience of thousands of individuals, children, and families who took incredible steps to change their lives for the better over the past year. Along with our clients and staff, I am deeply grateful for the community’s continued support of our mission at the Domestic Violence Resource Center (DVRC). While the fight against domestic abuse is ongoing, so is hope, and the new year brings even more opportunities to help those fleeing abuse. From emergency services and counseling to educational programs and community outreach, we remain committed to supporting survivors on their journey.
VOLUNTEER ON THE HOTLINE
If you have been looking for a way to directly impact a survivor, we invite you to join our compassionate team of hotline volunteers from all over the country. We are hosting an in-person training on Saturday, January 11th, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at our office at 1735 Vassar Street, Reno. This is a wonderful opportunity for anyone interested in helping others and gaining skills to provide crisis intervention. To learn more or sign up, please reach our Education and Outreach Coordinator, Miriam, at miriame@dvrcnv.org.
SEE OUR LIFE SKILLS CALENDER
We are also excited to continue expanding our Life Skills program. Our financial literacy and skill-building workshops equip survivors with confidence to navigate everyday life, including topics in nutrition, self-care, insurance, and home ownership. Our book club offers a space to engage in meaningful discussions, share experiences, and find inspiration. These events offer practical tools for personal independence while fostering a sense of community and connection. I encourage you to view and share our calendar of classes here and follow us on Facebook and Instagram to stay up to date.
Thank you for your continued partnership whether it is by donating, volunteering, or sharing our information. Every effort helps us create a stronger, safer, and brighter community for all.
Wishing you a new year filled with hope and healing,
Kristen Kennedy
Executive Director
