The organization provides individuals and families with a step-by-step path to safer and healthier living through individualized service plans as well as the caring support victims need. Job title:              Marketing & Communications Specialist

Position summary:


The Domestic Violence Resource Center is seeking a talented marketing professional to lead all marketing and communications efforts for our dynamic non-profit. The Marketing & Communications Coordinator is responsible for promoting the Domestic Violence Resource Center’s goals, values and objectives in a consistent voice through strategic messaging, targeted outreach, and innovative marketing. Reporting to the Executive Director and working alongside the Director of Client Services, Development Coordinator, and Education & Outreach Coordinator, this position coordinates the Domestic Violence Resource Center’s efforts to build and maintain effective relationships between the organization, the community and the media.


Essential functions:

Primary Responsibilities:


  • Positively influences and frames conversations about domestic violence and DVRC services. Develops and implements a measurable communication plan to proactively engage community media outlets including newspapers, magazines, radio, television, social media and websites.
  • Communicates on behalf of DVRC, responding to media inquiries; prepares other staff or volunteers by acting as media liaison and by providing talking points or otherwise facilitating media interaction. Develops press releases, media advisories, public statements and other commentary responding to current events or critical incidents.


  • Collaborates with other key staff and the Marketing & PR Committee to produce an annual marketing campaign in line with the organization’s strategic plan.
  • Engages staff and volunteers in visually documenting DVRC events and DVRC participation in community partner events to include in social media and other agency publications.
  • Oversees content development, graphic design, and distribution of DVRC materials including printed reports, collateral, and newsletters.
  • Actively manages DVRC’s social media platforms including generating content and reports on data and analytics to build a social media presence.
  • Manages the DVRC website, including development, updating, organizing and posting of
  • Generates a monthly newsletter by creating content, coordinating staff or volunteer contributors and highlighting awareness events and fundraising campaigns.
  • Serves as staff liaison to the Board Marketing & PR
  • Compiles data, analytics and project milestones to report on success metrics for measuring marketing initiatives.

Qualifications & Skills:




  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, English, Marketing, or related Minimum 3 years of relevant work or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with strong proof reading
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and
  • Proficiency with MS Office
  • Skilled in Adobe Creative, including Illustrator and
  • Skilled in basic HTML and Bootstrap
  • Disciplined and able to maintain
  • Some schedule flexibility for evening or weekend
