NV Energy & CAAW: 20 years of baskets

 In News

For 20 years, thoughtful employees at NV Energy have helped make life a bit more bearable for women and children in Washoe County whose lives are disrupted by domestic violence. This year, on the Friday before Christmas, the Employee Volunteer Council delivered 125 large baskets filled with toiletries to the CAAW offices. Along with items such as shampoo, soap and deodorant and gift cards, some baskets included winter gloves, and stuffed animals and coloring books for children.

The project began with 10 baskets when, NV Energy employees, Marvell Phillips and Lynne Belli were executive assistants. Lynne explained “We asked company executives to bring us toiletry items from their travels. As the word got out, we opened it up companywide. We want the women and children served by CAAW to realize that people love them and care about what happens to them.”
