Family Empowerment Project
Since 1977, CAAW has served as a community leader in the provision of safe, emergency services for victims of domestic violence and their children. This role continues today; however, CAAW is pleased to announce it will be enhancing some of those services with the support of the Nevada Women’s Fund Giving Circles and Umpqua Bank. These two generous entities are the inaugural sponsors of the Family Empowerment Project (FEP).
Through the FEP, families residing in CAAW’s Emergency Shelter and Transitional Housing Facility will have access to professional counseling, computer and job skills training and child care. The addition of these services to the supportive case management already provided will help them find greater success as they transition to a violence-free life. A portion of these funds will also be available to a handful of CAAW clients not currently utilizing the residential programs.
Additionally, CAAW is working with the University of Nevada, Reno, Center for Program Evaluation to create tools to measure the impact of these enhanced services. As always, CAAW is committed to helping families change their lives and end the violence in their homes; this program is one more tool available to support this vital mission.
