 In Events

On Friday, May 10, 2013, more than 380 community supporters attended CAAW’s Hannah Humanitarian Award Luncheon at the Atlantis Casino Resort Spa. The event honored Sheila Leslie and the E.L. Cord Foundation for their outstanding contributions to local families experiencing domestic violence. Proceeds from the event support CAAW’s life-saving services.

Attendees were also treated to a keynote address by Mildred Muhammad, the former wife of DC Sniper, John Muhammad. Thanks to the generous support of NV Energy, Mildred shared the story of how violence in her marriage led to a random shooting spree, what the ensuing judicial process was like and how she and her children are coping today.

Other event sponsors included: the Washoe County Honorary Deputy Sheriff’s Association, AT&T, WMS Gaming, IGT, Heritage Bank, Legacy Wealth Planning, Renown, Stantec Consulting and Atlantis Casino Resort Spa. On behalf of the Board and Staff of CAAW, we would like to thank everyone who provided sponsorships, purchased tables, donated drawing items, bought drawing tickets and attended this heartwarming event.
